Integrative Pelvic Bodywork

Anna’s approach to pelvic bodywork combines internal pelvic manual therapy* with organ-specific fascial mobilization and nervous system support in order to:

  • release adhesions and trigger points throughout the pelvic bowl (muscle, ligament, nerve, blood, lymph, fascia, etc.)
  • balance pelvic floor recruitment (contraction) and rest (relaxation) through both treatment and patient awareness
  • resolve broader misalignments in the body caused by or contributing to pelvic tension

The goal of this therapy is to restore physical and energetic balance to the pelvic bowl and any associated structural and functional patterns throughout body by resolving core patterns of tension, imbalance, congestion, and pain.

*Common manual therapy treatments include myofascial release, visceral manipulation, strain/counterstrain (positional release), manual lymphatic drainage, trigger point therapy, balanced ligamentous tension, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, and active release.

Manual Therapy (Medical Massage)

Anna’s approach to manual therapy is rooted in the principles of osteopathy: the body desires to be in balance and at ease, the body is capable of self-healing, structures and their functions are interrelated, no injury occurs in isolation and no healing occurs in isolation.

Manual therapy is for persons:

  • With chronic and/or current tension, pain, and misalignment patterns
  • Recovering from surgery (especially when pain or function were not resolved)
  • With unexplained pain or tension, not resolving with other treatments

Anna’s treatments are formulated with careful attunement to anatomy and intuitive precision in technique. Modalities include: myofascial release, trigger point release therapy, strain/counterstrain manual therapy, manual lymphatic drainage, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, scar tissue remediation, active release technique, visceral manipulation, and others. Your fully customized session will be based on your treatment goals. Reviews are available here.

  • New patient appointment: $250 (2 hour office visit, up to 90 minutes of hands-on time)

Visceral Manipulation

Visceral Manipulation addresses the relationships between organs (e.g. bowel, liver, lung, uterus) and other structures such as bones, fascia, ligaments, and nerves. When the movement of an organ is restricted or reorganized by an adhesion, injury, surgery, infection, or poor posture, visceral manipulation can assist the body in unwinding restrictions and restoring optimal movement and function body-wide. This treatment is incorporated into table sessions (manual therapy, pelvic care) as needed.

Community Education Workshops

Pelvic Wellness Collective Clinics are group workshops and experiences facilitated by Anna Burnett, sometimes in partnership with other local professionals. The vision for these gatherings is to deepen connections to ourselves and our community through clinical pelvic wellness education, embodied awareness, trauma-informed practices, and togetherness. More specifically, these workshops tend to address the somatic (body) or emotional fractures that can impede total pelvic floor rehabilitation. This is vital element of whole person wellness and will also benefit any person already pursuing treatments through manual therapy, physical therapy, integrative pelvic bodywork, or other wellness practices.

Breathwork

Body + Breath is a trauma-informed, parasympathetic breathwork practice. Join us for our next circle. A slow, curious exploration of the edges of a full breath through the nose, without any force or regulation, can help soothe (down-regulate) a stressed nervous system. Touch-based breathwork also harnesses touch therapy (yours and mine) as an additional avenue for re-connection to the body. Come be and breath with us.
