Student Clinic

You are invited to receive a pelvic bodywork session from one of twelve students enrolled in Entering the Temple, a professional training program for internal pelvic bodywork. You will be joining us on the fourth day of labs, after your practitioner has already completed 45 hours of supervised training and practice.

Privacy and Informed Consent

Your session will be supervised by a teacher or a teaching assistant and may take place in an open room environment (with multiple treatment tables in one room) within a private training location (i.e. no general public access) in a female-only learning environment (including all teachers, students, and clinic participants).

A sheet will be provided for your draping and privacy. Your pelvis will be briefly uncovered for certain portions of exam and treatment. There will be no stirrups or speculums. Your student will ask for your consent before any undraping occurs.

Your body and your autonomy will be treated with sovereignty and dignity at all times You have the right to refuse or retract your consent to any portion of a session at any time for any reason.

Before signing up to receive a practice session from a student, please honestly consider your suitability for this experience. For the benefit of our students and their learning process, the ideal community clinic participant:

  • Is comfortable with brief, respectful, educational exposure of genitals in a semi-public setting
  • Has prior experience and a high window of tolerance for pelvic therapeutic touch and treatment
  • Is already aware of and has received prior support (mental, emotional, and physical) for any pelvic traumas

Note: your student will be wearing gloves during your session. There will be no sexual intent or activity allowed during your treatment by either therapist or client. You will be receiving a professional and therapeutic form of bodywork operating according to the ethical principles and scope of practice outlined by the Oregon Board of Massage Therapy for internal cavity work.

What to Expect

Please allow up to 2 hours for this whole process.

  • Arrival: street parking is available
  • Greeting: a teacher’s assistant will welcome you
  • Paperwork: completion of intake and consent paperwork
  • Meeting: your therapist will receive you for your session
  • Intake: your therapist will ask you questions about your pelvic history, symptoms and concerns, and any treatment goals you may have
  • Orientation: your therapist will explain what happens during a session and get your consent for treatment
  • Transition: you will be asked to undress from the waist down and tuck under a cover sheet on a massage table
  • Treatment: your therapist will begin your session with some grounding, non-pelvic touch before proceeding with external and internal pelvic exam and treatment. Please do interact with your therapist to provide real time feedback and make any requests.
  • Closure of the session: after treatment, your therapist will ask how you are feeling and if you have any verbal feedback about the session
  • Evaluation: you’ll complete a written feedback form for your therapist

Eligibility to Participate

You are eligible to receive a practice internal pelvic bodywork session if you are a person with female anatomy (vulva + born with a uterus) are over the age of 18, and feel 110% comfortable with the explanations given above about what to expect in this community clinic setting for our students.

Please tell your therapist if you:

  • Have an IUD (your therapist will avoid your cervix)
  • Have any pelvic mesh (where is it? how long has it been there?)
  • Are bleeding (you are welcome to free bleed during treatment)

You are not eligible for participation if you:

  • Are under the age of 18
  • Are less than 6 weeks postpartum
  • Are in treatment for cancer anywhere in the body
  • Are less than six weeks after any radiation or chemotherapy
  • Are less than six weeks post-surgery anywhere in the body
  • Have acute pelvic pain (please seek medical attention first)
  • Have atrophic vaginitis, fragile skin, or estrogen deficiency
  • Are pregnant (pelvic bodywork is recommended for pregnancy, but we are not seeing pregnant folks in this clinic)

Please note that there is a small fee associated with your participation. This investment signifies your commitment to show up at your scheduled time and is non-refundable. By signing up, you are entering into an agreement to support your student / therapist in their learning process by receiving a practice session and providing them with feedback.

After graduation, full price for a internal pelvic bodywork session with one of our students would cost $100-200. We are pleased to offer you a deeply discounted rate because the primary exchange of reciprocity in this clinic experience for our students is not monetary. Your willingness to receive a practice session and give your honest feedback is of much greater value to our students. We thank you for your time and thoughtfulness!!

What to bring to your session:

  • Clothes that facilitate pelvic bodywork:
    • Wear a loose-fitting dress that can you can just lift up and wear on the treatment table
    • OR bring a bathrobe to wear to the table after changing in the bathroom
  • A water bottle for hydration before and after your session
  • Any comfort or grounding items you wish to hold during your session
  • Your willingness to provide verbal and written feedback

Cancellation Policy

If you become sick or are experiencing an infection anywhere in the body in the days prior to your appointment, please let us know with enough advanced notice to allow us time to find a replacement clinic participant for your student.
