Love Your Organs

“An organ in good health has physiological motion.” – Jean-Pierre Barral

The “viscera” are the organs.

Organs are involved in up to 70% of musculoskeletal pain. Many of us faithfully pursue therapy for the outside of our bodies (e.g. muscles and bones), but remain unaware of the role our organs play in musculoskeletal pain.

Visceral manipulation* is a specific treatment for internal organs, assessing and supporting organ health from the perspective of mobility. The goal is to promote resolution of pain patterns and other conditions contributing to bodily dis-ease.

Anna Burnett (LMT) and Jessica King (LMT) both incorporate visceral manipulation into their regular office visits. This community clinic provides an opportunity for you to experience a focused organ treatment.

*Visceral manipulation is also called organ specific fascial mobilization.

For our October clinic, these are the available clinics. Feel free to make a request for future treatment clinics. We may also hold an “open” clinic where we assess and treat accordingly. These treatment options were designed to help you identify how we can help you.

Bladder Clinic: for the ligaments around the bladder to promote healthy bladder function. Suggested for those who experience urinary frequency, especially at night. Anyone with bladder concerns is welcome.

SI Joint/Sacrum Clinic: for ligaments of the SI joint and sacrum. Suggested for those with SI joint pain or low back pain. Anyone with sacral/SI concerns is welcome.

C-Section Clinic: for bladder ligaments as they relate to scar tissue. Anyone with history of a c-section is welcome. We recommend also signing up for the uterus clinic.

Uterus Clinic: for the uterine ligaments to promote balance in the uterus and throughout the pelvic bowl. Suggested for anyone with PMS/PMDD or history of childbirth. Anyone with uterine concerns is welcome.

Liver Clinic: to mobilize the liver and promote cellular regeneration. Suggested for anyone with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Anyone with a liver concern is welcome.

Participation Guidelines

Visceral manipulation is not recommended during pregnancy, cancer treatment, or if you are less than six weeks post-abdominal surgery. All internal clips, staples, mesh, tubes, devices, or other foreign objects must be avoided. Please let us know if you have any such items.

About your Facilitators

Anna Burnett, LMT and Jessica King, LMT, are both trained in visceral manipulation through the Barral Institute and will have completed all four training levels by the end of 2023. You can look us up to verify our training through the International Association of Healthcare Practitioners.

Anna and Jessica also co-facilitate Body + Breath, a touched-based, organ-based breathwork.
