Embody offers …

… adult sex education from experts in the sex medicine field. It offers a holistic embrace through an IFS lens (no bad parts) and mindful, self-compassion.

There is support for a real time investigation of your personal stories about sex and sexuality: the influences, inheritances, and experiences that shaped you.

There is sisterhood cultivated for grief and rage tending via somatic practices that facilitate mobilization of repressed emotion.

There is an abundance of free time preserved for you to use however you need to: for down time, integration, soothing, processing, rest, reprieve, etc.

No information overload. No schedule overwhelm. No pressure. This is a place to land softly and unwind. There is space and time here to launch into a new trajectory.

About This Retreat

This retreat utilizes mindful self-compassion, parts work (IFS), holistic medical education, and somatic (body-based) practices to help us skillfully disentangle the nuance of our sensual and sexual selves from the rigid framework of good and bad.

With gentleness, we discover how our authentic selves exist alongside patterns of thinking and behavior inherited from family systems, normative culture, and our unique life paths. Through a powerhouse collaboration of three passionate experts, you will be guided through a compassionate exploration of your sexuality through the lenses of mind, body, and medical.

Holistic mind/body medical education:

With Jessica Bell, PA-C: Empowering education on female anatomy and physiology, the sexual response cycle, orgasm, desire, sexual difficulties/dysfunction, and expanding your sexual repertoire

Compassionate mind/body practices:

With Afton Muir: Guided meditation firmly rooted in self-compassion; mind-mapping with Internal Family Systems therapy (a visual narrative modality to deepen self-understanding); trauma-sensitive movement blending yoga, dance, and primal play to awaken a broader capacity for authentic embodiment; 1:1 coaching to craft individualized practices for your unique needs

Body-based practices for attunement:

With Anna Burnett: pelvic anatomy, arousal anatomy and physiology, guided self-touch for pelvic mapping, pelvic breathwork and breast massage, internal pelvic bodywork 1:1 treatment

Since the body always tells the truth, we can learn a lot about ourselves by tuning into the messages of our tissues. Q&A

I’m concerned about the group dynamic. What will it be like?”

Most folks considering this retreat have a similar concern. Spending four intimate days with an unknown group of women can bring up our mother wounds, our sisterhood wounds, and other wounds.

In April, we tended to these very real dynamics by establishing and protecting group norms for communication and by providing ample space in the schedule for independent time.

Our past participants have felt that these safer connections in a group container were healing: witnessing, mirroring/reflecting, validating, and embracing. These are also the gifts of this retreat experience!

“I’m over 60 years old. Women my age are also wanting to connect in these aspects. Any elder classes on the horizon?”

Oh, dear elders, come to Attune. We have had women in their 50s, 60, and 70s attend the first two offerings of this retreat. Their presence was essential. We have witnessed, first hand, elderly women root into sensuality on this retreat … and it’s pure magic. Age range is one aspect of diversity that makes this experience so rich for everyone. We all benefit from sharing our stories together.

Is this retreat also for gender queer / fluid / nonbinary folks with wombs?

Yes, you are most welcome! Each of our providers approaches their practice from an intentionally inclusive space and would be happy to answer any specific questions or concerns you may have.

After reading about our planned activities and approaches, does your heart leap with desire to attend this retreat? That might be a good indication that this retreat is the right fit for you. Would you feel comfortable and at ease exploring your sexuality in an environment that is womb-orientated and female-focused? If so, join us.

As part of this journey, we aim to peel apart the layers of what it means to be assigned female at birth. What societal and sexual expectations are there for those born female? How does our anatomy affect how we show up and navigate life? All participants will be invited to neutrally witness their unique experience of themselves within this larger context of culture.
